I feel like rule #4 has been somehow forgotten in Hollywood scriptwriting. There are many movies and TV series where the scenes - which are much more expensive to shoot than pages are to write - neither reveal the characters nor advance the plots. I'm going to try to use this in my next blog post! Yeah I’d agree with that. A lot of writing is just lazy and lacks fundamentals. Also anytime plot follows “and then this happened”, it’s directionally wrong. It should follow “someone wanted this BUT this happened”, with an occasional “therefore they tried something else”. For blog posts too, I feel like starting as close to the end (thesis, what the reader must know) is also lost on most content writers. Remind me of the writing advice from Matt Stone and Trey Parker: https://youtu.be/vGUNqq3jVLg?si=TlJrxNS0W8wrKkCh | |
